
Anthony has a rare property background to his practice at the Bar. Before being called to the Bar he qualified as a surveyor and valuer and worked in the Valuation Department of the GLC. His experience there, apart from a valuable insight into the workings of local government, included an active role in preparing for planning inquiries (particularly concerning Listed Buildings) and the proposal for the wholesale compulsory purchase and redevelopment of the Covent Garden area, fortunately never realised.
In Chambers and Partners (2010) Anthony is quoted as "winning the respect of his peers thanks to a meticulous, detailed approach to his work". In the 2008 edition Anthony is described as “a gentle but extremely effective advocate, who gets very good results for his clients.” An expert in town planning and CPOs, he is experienced in inquiries into retail and housing schemes, listed buildings and conservation areas. Anthony is also ranked as a leading planning silk by the Legal 500 (2009).
Anthony has acted as a Mediator and in an Early Neutral Evaluation. He regularly lectures at planning and compulsory purchase seminars.
