We are acknowledged as leaders in our fields of practice by all the major legal guides. As recognised experts in our areas of law, we pride ourselves in providing first class advice and representation in a number of broad categories of work. These include, amongst others:
Civil Litigation
Compulsory Purchase and Compensation
Employment
Environment
Housing
Immigration and Asylum
Licensing
Local Government
Planning
Property
Public Law and Judicial Review
Regulatory Crime/Crime
We have an extensive client base which allows us to support the level of expertise needed to meet all demands from our clients in a timely and cost-effective manner across all our areas of practice. For instance, in planning, we act for over 300 local authorities, the development industry (including private developers and public development agencies) as well as third party objectors. Our work with major developers ensures that we remain involved with a wide range of high-profile projects.
The work our members undertake sends them around the world, acting in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and the West Indies. Supporting our areas of practice, we have extensive expertise in the application of EU law and the European Convention on Human Rights.
We accept work through:
Many members have held or currently hold part-time judicial appointments, sitting as legal assessors on various disciplinary boards and tribunals, including the RICS, the Lands Tribunal, the Adjudication Panel of England & Wales and sporting bodies' dispute resolution panels. Members also sit as arbitrators and have acted as Treasury Counsel.
Our administration and clerking team is highly regarded, and supported by the latest technology. We have dedicated conference facilities, including video-conferencing capabilities and WiFi hotspots in Chambers, primarily in the Conference Rooms. We make a point of regularly consulting our clients about the quality of service they experience. Our most recent client feedback survey (2009) shows that as a set 2-3 Gray's Inn Square is approachable, personable, delivers excellent client care and offers first-class value for money. We believe these independent quotes reflect this: "extremely responsive, good at meeting tight deadlines and excellent at finding solutions to difficult problems." "The overall level of service is very high. Whether you're dealing with the clerks or the barristers, they will always do their best to meet the clients' requirements. It's a really polished outfit." (Chambers and Partners 2010)
Our aim is to ensure that we provide an efficient and personal service to every one of our clients: we recognise that the judicial process is rarely a pleasant experience. We aim to make it as painless and efficiently managed as we can.
We have consistently been recognised in the Chambers Bar Awards: Anthony Scrivener QC was awarded a lifetime achievement award in 2008, and Mary Cook has been the Winner of the Chambers and Partners Environment /Planning Junior of the Year Award for both 2006 and 2008.
Last year Chambers was amongst those nominated by Chambers & Partners for Client Service set of the year and our commitment to providing the best possible quality of service to clients is demonstrated by Chambers obtaining BarMark accreditation in 2009.
